Frequently Asked Questions About Our Fuel Delivery & Services

If you have questions about heating oil delivery in Westchester, Putnam or Bronx, how automatic delivery works, or what to do if you run out of fuel, you'll find the answers here. This heating oil delivery FAQ Westchester page covers the questions we hear most often — from first-time customers setting up service to longtime clients making changes mid-season.
Heating Oil Delivery
How does automatic oil delivery work?
With automatic delivery, we track your oil consumption alongside local weather data — a method called weather-conditioned scheduling — and schedule your delivery before your tank runs low. You don't watch the gauge or call to reorder. We calculate your home's heating degree days, factor in your tank size and historical usage, and route a truck to your property on a schedule that keeps you supplied through the season.
For propane most of our tanks have an Anova fuel level sensor that tells us how much fuel you have left. We get an alert when the level is low and come out to refill it.
How often will I receive a delivery?
It depends on your home's size, insulation, how cold the winter runs, and your tank capacity. Most customers in Westchester receive deliveries every four to six weeks during the heating season. Weather-conditioned scheduling adjusts that window automatically — if we hit a brutal cold stretch, deliveries come sooner.
What is #2 fuel oil?
Number 2 fuel oil — also called #2 heating oil or home heating oil — is the standard distillate fuel used in most residential oil-burning systems in the Northeast. It's chemically similar to diesel but sold specifically for heating equipment. We source #2 heating oil directly through our wholesale fuel terminal, which gives us stable supply even during peak demand.
What tank sizes do you service?
We deliver to customers with all tank sizes. Most of our Westchester customers have tank sizes between 24 and 500 gallons. We also service larger tanks for homes with higher usage or commercial accounts. If you're unsure about your tank or need an assessment before starting service, we're happy to take a look.
Can I switch to automatic delivery in the middle of the heating season?
Yes. You don't have to wait until fall to switch. We'll note your current tank level, factor in the remaining weeks of the heating season, and slot you into our delivery rotation. It's a straightforward change — just call us and we'll set it up.
What is B20 biofuel and should I consider it?
B20 biofuel is a blend of 80% ultra-low-sulfur heating oil and 20% biodiesel derived from renewable sources such as soybean oil or recycled cooking oil. It burns cleaner than standard heating oil, produces fewer emissions, and is compatible with existing oil burners without modification. Many homeowners choose B20 as a lower-carbon alternative that still delivers reliable performance through a Westchester winter. New York mandates usage of at least 10% of biodiesel in the mix and 20% by 2030. NYS offers a 20 cents/gallon tax credit for B20 biofuel heating oil usage. Our average customer save $200/year by filling out IT-241 Clean Heating Fuel form when filing taxes.
What is weather-conditioned scheduling, exactly?
It means we use heating degree day data — a measure of how cold it's been relative to a baseline temperature — along with your consumption history to predict when your tank will need a refill. Rather than running a fixed calendar schedule, deliveries flex with actual weather conditions. Cold snaps trigger earlier deliveries; mild spells extend the window. You get fuel when you need it, not just when the calendar says so.
Propane & Other Fuels
Do you deliver propane?
Yes. We deliver propane to residential and commercial customers throughout our service area. Whether you use propane for heating, cooking, hot water, or a generator, we can set up propane delivery on an auto delivery scheduled. Contact us to discuss tank options and delivery schedules.
Do you deliver diesel fuel for commercial accounts?
We do. We deliver diesel fuel to commercial customers including contractors, fleet operators, and businesses that run diesel-powered equipment and have a storage tank on-site. We can arrange recurring delivery schedules or on-demand service depending on your operation's needs.
What is the difference between on-road and off-road diesel?
On-road diesel is taxed and legal for use in street-licensed vehicles. Off-road diesel — also called dyed diesel — is taxed at a lower rate, tinted red, and intended for equipment that doesn't operate on public roads: construction machinery, farm equipment, generators, and similar uses. Using off-road diesel in a road vehicle is a federal violation. We can help you determine which product is appropriate for your application.
Do you handle propane tank installation?
Yes. We can discuss tank options, sizing, and placement as part of setting up propane service. Call us to arrange a free estimate for tank installation before delivery begins.
Pricing & Billing
How does the level billing plan work?
Our level billing plan — sometimes called budget billing — spreads your estimated annual fuel cost into equal 10-11 monthly payments. We calculate your expected usage at the start of the heating season based on your home's history and current market conditions, divide that into monthly payments, and true up the balance at the end of the season. It takes the unpredictability out of February bills.
What is the price lock-in program?
Our heating oil price lock-in option fixes your per-gallon cost for the heating season. If market prices rise after you lock in, your rate stays the same. It's something we're able to offer because we operate our own wholesale fuel terminal — we have a clearer picture of our supply costs than a typical dealer. There are conditions to the program, so ask us about the details when you sign up.
How is heating oil pricing determined?
Home heating oil prices follow wholesale fuel markets, which move with crude oil prices, refinery output, regional supply and demand, and seasonal factors. Prices typically fluctuate week to week. We don't advertise a price online because it changes — call us or check in for a current quote. For customers who want price certainty, our price lock-in program on heating oil is worth considering.
What payment methods do you accept?
To avoid increasing prices to cover additional credit card fees, we accept checks and automatic ACH bank drafts for automatic payment arrangements. If you're on a level billing plan, automatic payment makes the process entirely hands-off. Call us to set up the payment method that works for your account.
Do automatic delivery customers get better pricing?
Automatic delivery customers are easier to route efficiently, which helps us keep operating costs down. We do work with our automatic delivery customers on pricing, and signing up for automatic delivery is often a condition of our budget billing and heating oil price lock-in programs. Ask about current options when you call.

Service Area
Which towns do you serve?
We deliver heating oil, propane, and other fuels to Mount Kisco, Bedford, Katonah, Chappaqua, Pleasantville, and Briarcliff Manor, along with surrounding communities throughout Westchester, Putnam, Bronx and parts of Fairfield County. Our fuel delivery service area covers the entire region surrounding our centrally located fuel depot in Mt Kisco.
Do you deliver to Putnam County?
Yes. We serve customers in Putnam County, including communities north and east of the Westchester border. If you're not sure whether your address falls within our delivery area, give us a call and we'll confirm quickly.
How far from Mount Kisco do you deliver?
Our headquarters are in Mount Kisco, and we route deliveries across a wide area of Westchester, Putnam, Bronx and parts of Fairfield County. Most of the communities we serve are within a 25-mile radius. If you're on the edge of our coverage area, call us — we'll let you know whether we can serve your address.
How long does delivery take in different towns?
Delivery windows vary based on route scheduling and current demand. For automatic delivery customers, we route your delivery into our regular schedule, so there's no waiting on a specific date. During high-demand periods in winter, lead times can stretch — which is one of the reasons automatic delivery is worth having.
Equipment & Service
What is an oil burner service contract?
An oil burner service contract covers scheduled annual tune-ups for your heating system, priority emergency service if something goes wrong, and — depending on the plan level — parts and labor for repairs. Regular maintenance keeps your system running efficiently and helps catch problems before they turn into cold-night breakdowns. We service burners and boilers throughout our area.
What does the boiler and furnace installation process look like?
We start with a free estimate that covers your home's heating load, the right equipment size, and installation requirements. Once you approve the project, we schedule the installation and handle the work from start to finish. If your current system is aging or failing, don't wait until it quits entirely — replacement on your schedule is always easier than emergency replacement. Learn more on our boiler and furnace installation page.
What brands of equipment do you service?
We work on most major oil burner and boiler brands common in Westchester homes. If you have a specific brand question, call us and we'll confirm whether we service it before you commit to a contract.
When should I schedule a tune-up?
To keep everything running smoothly and to ensure we can complete every customer’s maintenance on time, all annual tune‑ups for oil‑fired heating systems are performed March through September. Technicians are less busy, parts are easier to source, and you'll know your system is ready before the first cold snap. Customers on auto delivery with a service contract get their tune-ups scheduled as part of their plan.
Emergency Service
Are you really available 24 hours a day?
Yes. We answer calls around the clock, every day of the year — including holidays. If you have a heating emergency in the middle of the night in January, call (914) 666-4328. Someone will pick up. If you are not a customer yet, no problem. We can sign you up for our automatic delivery service on the spot, but we can't guarantee we'll be there within 24hrs during high demand emergency weather situations. We will do our best to be help you as soon as possible.
What counts as a heating emergency?
Running out of oil or having your heating system fail in cold weather are the most common emergencies we handle. If your home is at risk of losing heat — especially with children, elderly family members, or freezing pipes at stake — that's an emergency. Emergency fuel delivery and after-hours service calls are part of what we offer because we know these situations don't happen at convenient hours.
I ran out of oil. What do I do right now?
Call us at (914) 666-4328 immediately. We'll dispatch an emergency delivery as quickly as we can. Be aware that if your tank runs completely dry, your burner may need to be bled and restarted after the delivery — oil systems can lose prime when the tank empties. Our driver can advise you, and if you need a technician to restart the system, we'll arrange that as part of the service call.
